Congratulations on your appointment to the civil service board, and thank you for your willingness to serve your community and the men and women who provide for our public safety, whether in the fire service or in law enforcement. Being a new board member can be a little intimidating, and even a seasoned veteran can feel confused from time to time. That’s why we’ve created this video: to help you better understand the process.
This DVD presents an overview of how a typical civil service board meeting might be conducted, and offers an insight to the duties and responsibilities of the board. You will observe as the board winds its way through the meeting’s agenda, making and deliberating on motions, considering requests from department heads, a request for an appeal hearing from a classified employee — even the election of an officer of the board.
The Office of State Examiner hopes that you will find this video helpful. An abundance of information is also available on our website www.ose.louisiana.gov.
